Digital Cameras
Our PreK-8 school is looking for up to 20 digital cameras and 3 digital video cameras. We are hoping for each classroom and specialist to be able to utilize the cameras to enhance their curriculum where the camera is used as a tool to help students explore and understand the curriculum. Additionally, we also like to have classrooms take pictures of the activities in the classroom and on field trips during the year. Our goal is to use those pictures improve our website and individual teacher websites in order to attract more students to our school. We'd also like to compile these into a brochure or slide show to make a virtual tour for the website.

Seeking Engineers, Scientist, Professionals to volunteer in my Science Projects Class
I teach science at a charter high-school. The theme of our school is project-based learning. I have a "Science Projects" class where the students plan, create, and present a topic in science. Students are expected to be self directed learners; they choose a topic of their own interest, and I act as a guide and mentor while they build their projects. Some example topics may include constructing a trebuchet, prairie restoration, building an object to run on solar power...the possibilities are endless. I would greatly appreciate a college student, business professional, or anyone interested in the field of science with some background knowledge to come in and volunteer with my students.

Career Jamboree participants needed Novemeber 1
On Novemeber 1, 1000 Lakeville juniors will attend the annual Career Jamboree from 3:15-5:30 at Lakeville South High School. They will visit with business and professionals regarding their careers. The event is sponsored by IDS 194 and the Chamber of Commerce Business Education Committe. We proivide each business/industry participant with a table for display/materials or just an informal area to visit with the students about the career pathways they are interested in. This informal interactive activity gives students a first hand opportunity to connect and discover more about business and industry and their future. The presenters will be asked questions about education, job requirments, job skills and advancement opportunities. We have many students interest in the engineering and technology pathways and this event broadens their horizons about today's business world and the careers available to them. Please consider being a presenter participant. Contact Carol at clclark@isd194.k12.mn.us for more information by 8/17 if possible. Thank you. (Last year we had 75 business/industry reps and we are looking for more variety and participation in 2010).

Mathematical applications from basic algebra through differential equations
I am seeking to develop teaching materials (homework assignments, class projects) for mathematics at Normandale Community College in Bloomington. I would like to meet with local professionals, especially in biosciences and economics/finance, who routinely apply quantitative, mathematical, or statistical analysis in their work to discuss mathematical problems they have had to solve on the job. I will share any materials I develop with others throughout MnSCU and other colleges. (This is part of a sabbatical project.)
