I am a Pathologists' Assistant with the University of Minnesota. My job consists of receiving a surgical specimen (ruptured appendix, colon with tumor, amputation, etc) and choosing 1-20 small sections for the pathologist to examine and make a diagnosis. I also conduct medical autopsies and teach medical residents. My job every day exemplifies the importance of accurate scientific measurements and reports, having a broad range of scientific knowledge, and interacting with many other STEM professionals. There are a lot of niche scientific careers and I would be excited to share a very cool hidden one!
